Activity Idea: Credit Builder Loans
This is what makes the community of personal finance educators so awesome!
I received an email over the weekend from Jason Bartholomew (Nansemond River HS) that had an attachment with an activity that he created. The activity focuses on a financial product, the credit builder loan, that provides "thin file" consumers with an opportunity to establish credit. His message read in part..."You and your staff do so much for us that I thought I'd send you my draft in case you thought it was a topic worth adopting."
The activity has three parts. First students react to a commercial pitching these credit builder loans. Then they do their own research to figure out how these loans work and do some comparison shopping. The final question ask students to think critically and whether they would recommend these products to a friend.
Here's the activity, RESEARCH: Credit Builder Loans
Thank you Jason!
