Question of the Day: What percent of teens only trust a brand after carrying out their own research?
Teens might be more financially savvy than they get credit for.
Answer: 70%
The vast majority of teens only trust a brand after carrying out their own research. Although this percentage is similar to value for Millennials, teens are increasingly relying on social media for independent reviews.
Questions:
- What research, if any, do you do before making a purchase?
- Why do you think independent reviews are more important to Gen Z than older generations?
- How do you think this trend will impact the way businesses market their products?

Behind the numbers (Archrival):
"Zs are diving deep into the feed to decide whether or not to buy products of all kinds. “I always, always do my research. I go straight to TikTok before I click ‘Purchase,’” says Cristy, 19. Meanwhile, Kaj says, “Whether I’m getting a new phone or if I want an opinion on a company, I’ll look it up on TikTok.” Now, 70% of Zs say they only trust brands after they’ve done their own research on them."
