How Teachers Used the NGPF Website in May of 2021
It's been almost three years since I last blogged about how teachers used the NGPF website in November of 2018. A lot has changed since then. We had just crossed the milestone of 10,000 teachers in August of that 2018. Here's an update based on website data from May 2021 as we approach 50,000 teachers with NGPF accounts! Thank you for sharing NGPF with your teacher colleagues. YOU are the number one source of new teacher accounts:)
- More than 1600 unique webpages were visited by at least 10 teachers in just the month of May. We tout the comprehensive nature of our content offering and it's great to see teachers dig deep into our catalog to find what they need for their students.
- Teachers come looking for curriculum, which is our second most visited page after our home page which is #1. Since May marks the end of the school year for many high schools, no surprise to see the Arcade as the #3 most visited page.
- Favorite courses for the month: #1 Semester Course, #2 Trimester Course, #3 Full Year Course
- Most popular units for the month: #1 Investing (did GameStop play a role here?), #2 Types of Credit and #3 Budgeting
- Favorite NGPF Resource Type: #1 Interactive Library, #2 Quiz Games Library and #3 Question of the Day
- Favorite Blog post: NGPF 2020-21 Usage Survey [let us know how we can continue to serve you better by answering the survey]
- Favorite Interactive: STAX
- In terms of geographical reach…
- We had users from all 50 states visit our website every weekday in May
- California, Texas, New York, New Jersey and Georgia were the top five states based on number of users for the month
- More than 2,300 different cities, towns and hamlets had at least ten users during the month; the biggest cities were New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Antonio and Chicago.
- We had quite a few international visitors too, with more than 20 users visiting the website from 50 different countries in May, including Canada, Australia, U.K., Singapore, Hong Kong and India. It's been great to see more and more international educators join us for professional development workshops too! You are always welcome.
- Other random trivia about the website…
- Our PAYBACK game (www.timeforpayback.com) was #1 for referrals by a long-shot! After playing the game, many students seem to want to learn more:)
- Top 5 Search Terms: retirement, taxes, identity theft, insurance and credit
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you and your students!
About the Author
Tim Ranzetta
Tim's saving habits started at seven when a neighbor with a broken hip gave him a dog walking job. Her recovery, which took almost a year, resulted in Tim getting to know the bank tellers quite well (and accumulating a savings account balance of over $300!). His recent entrepreneurial adventures have included driving a shredding truck, analyzing executive compensation packages for Fortune 500 companies and helping families make better college financing decisions. After volunteering in 2010 to create and teach a personal finance program at Eastside College Prep in East Palo Alto, Tim saw firsthand the impact of an engaging and activity-based curriculum, which inspired him to start a new non-profit, Next Gen Personal Finance.
