[The Resource] CALCULATE: How Much Do I Pay in Taxes?

The Gist: Students explore how different factors can have a big impact on how much someone pays in taxes and how much they have leftover to spend on themselves.

The Best Parts:

• Students practice using the H&R Block’s Income Tax Calculator to compare two characters' tax burdens based on their salaries, as well compare marginal vs. effective tax rates
• Using another calculator for state taxes, students explore how living in different states affects how much they owe in taxes
• Lastly, students compare how far the same amount of money goes in different areas by looking at the cost of living to determine how much extra spending money they have
